Oh new mass translation how I love thee

I'm so excited about the new mass translation. I hope it fosters more reverence. I think it's kind of hard to be irreverent when you just have gotten done chanting, but who knows right?

I can't wait to see how it all settles and how much more wonderful it is. Love it. Just love it.

I never have anything intelligent to write I just like stuff mkay? :p

7 Quick Takes Friday!

--- 1 ---
Today the girls and I went to a cloth diaper store because they needed fit testers. They compensated with $15 of product per child. I got 3 diapers for free! And, I'll have to go back because Lily is in love with a Cat in the Hat shirt they had, but we don't have any money right now, so I couldn't buy it for her. I told her Santa would probably bring it to her.

--- 2 ---
Back in the MySpace days I was "friends" with Steven Ertelt, the founder of LifeNews. When everyone made the switch to Facebook, he friend requested me, then a few months later asked that people that didn't know him personally delete him because he was at his limit for friends. So I did, figuring I didn't really "know" him personally. I added him back a couple weeks ago and asked him a question, then he asked again that people that don't know him personally delete him, so I deleted him again. The next day I got another friend request. lol!! Talk about socially awkward (me).

--- 3 ---
I'm debating whether or not to buy the girls' Christmas dresses this week since Carter's is having a 60% off sale, and I have a 20% off entire bill coupon, but we reeeeally don't have the money. But if I wait, I might not be able to get such a good deal. Sigh. But, at least their ad was hilarious. Holiday Dressing anyone?

--- 4 ---
Kyle doesn't have Wednesdays off anymore, so my return to Wednesday night mass was brief. :(

--- 5 ---
Kyle's job should be picking up starting next Wednesday because of the holidays. Hopefully it'll get us out of this hole!! I need to Christmas shop! (You know, and pay bills, whatever)

--- 6 ---
I can't wait until Thanksgiving!! My aunt is hosting, and tons of family will be there. Please pray it's uneventful. Yes, we are one of THOSE families... But I can't wait to enjoy a big meal with everyone I love. Last year I was hiding a pregnancy and siiiiiiick! This year, bring on the wine and food!

--- 7 ---

For a reminder that everything happens in God's good timing, I've been stressing for years about not qualifying for a house. We still don't, but we would've never been able to take this risk with Kyle's new job if we had had a mortgage. We're currently paying very little rent, so while it's still rough, it's not as rough as it would've been had we already been in a home. So, even though I never thought I'd say this, I'm thankful we don't have our home yet. But I do hope we will be in it by next year's holidays, but I say that every year... so, who knows. I REALLY want to have a 2012 election party in my own home though!!!

Happy weekend!

Facebook

I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. On one hand, it keeps me connected, gives me a social outlet, and helps me share and plan with friends. On the other hand, it opens me up to some people's vile and disrespectful ways.

I post controversial things, always have. I expect that if someone disagrees they will comment respectfully. Not post something short and snarky then run away from the conversation. Not start calling names if they do stick around for it.

Unfortunately, it seems most liberals are not good at keeping a debate or conversation civil. They go on the attack and then leave. If we question them, they freak out.

Now, I'm not perfect and I've lost my cool plenty of times in the past. But I make it a point to apologize if I do. I have yet to see very many apologies from the libs.

A few weeks ago I posted an article by Dave Ramsey about the Occupy Movement. It exploded into a 210 comment debate that got nowhere. The supporters resorted to name calling and the non supporters were made to look like villains. Ok then.

Lost two "friends" from that one.

A week later my friend Amanda posted a "keep the Christ in Christmas" picture and I commented. A mutual friend got mad because they didn't like that I agreed with the picture.

She deleted me. Ok then.

I had another random "friend" delete me too, but she didn't tell me why.

Then came the Duggar's announcement. I knew there would be people out there that would be critical, but after dealing with the hateful comments about them all day, I was at my wit's end. The Duggars have an amazing family and it's no one's business how many kids they have. Tv or not, it's still no one's business to criticize someone's family purely based on its size. Especially when they are a fully functioning, God loving, wonderful family, who produces outstanding adults. It upsets me personally because so many people give me crap about having too many kids and I only have 4!

So, I commented on a post and that person didn't like that someone dared disagree with her. I should've known it was going to get ugly, I have seen too much hatred on her page and conversations where she and her friend just laughed at people and acted like total bullies towards anyone who dared disagree. That is not open communication. That is not open debate. That is not acceptable in my opinion. It's hateful. And after a brief fight about it in fb, guess what? Deleted. Ok then... Again.

So really? Apparently people that don't agree with me can't be my friends. Apparently we all must agree on everything in order to be friends in their eyes.

Sorry, but no. What is needed in a true friendship is respect. Something that clearly all of these people were lacking. I'll miss all of them to a certain extent, but I'm also grateful on another level that they did delete me, because if they're going to cut me out of their lives for challenging their beliefs, then they're not the kind of people I want to be around anyway. And I'm not about to keep quiet about the things that matter to me most.

Open mindedness at its best, right? Sure.

7 quick quick takes minus the fancy

I don't have time to put the fancy pic but I wanted to post a quick quick takes. Lol.

Thanks Jen at www.conversiondiary.com for hosting! :)

1.

Happy Veterans Day. My hubby is a veteran, both grandpas, and various friends. I am so thankful for them all.

2.

I have lost a lot of fb "friends" the past couple weeks But I've also gained some awesome catholic ones. So, I rather like being deleted. Less vile liberal bull I have to put up with. That whole fiasco is worth its own post.

3.

Dr. Chavira was on EWTN last night! He has been my Ob through all of my pregnancies. He's a strong catholic doctor and an inspiration.

4.

Any ideas on how to get a kid to pray? Lily has a bad attitude about prayer for some reason. I don't want to force her but I also want her to do it so I'm at a loss.

5.

40 Days for Life ended with over 500 babies saved! So happy! Can't wait until the next campaign.

6.

My fertility has returned and I'm only 5 months postpartum. Charlotte nurses constantly so I don't really get it. Oh well. Back to charting.

7.

I am trying to decide If we will switch schools or not. I am leaning strongly towards yes, I just need a bit more time to decide.

Convalidation Update!

I called and got my dispensation started today! We should be able to have the ceremony on Dec 12th, our civil anniversary, which would rock! Hopefully it works out that way.

I'm almost there, I'm almost there!!!

Worry

Worry is something I struggle with. I freak out, then freak out some more, realize freaking out isn't helping anything, give it to God, and then it gets better.

I have realized that if I would just skip the freaking out part, my life would be a heck of a lot easier. If I constantly gave it to God instead of trying to wrack my brain about how to fix something, things would likely resolve faster.

I have been blessed that despite any past mistakes, there has always been someone or something there to help. Whether it has been a solution, an opportunity, an open door, money, encouragement, or anything in between, everything has always worked out. In this dark world, there are beautiful people whose souls radiate light.

So while I sit here a little on edge because my bills are behind due to a new opportunity DH has been blessed with, I have faith that it will all work out, and God will provide.

He always has. Always will.

The Holy Spirit is with us all the time. We just need to allow it to do its work.

Ridiculous

I have heard some pretty ridiculous arguments and statements since becoming a Catholic... Here are some of my favorites. (I'm paraphrasing, but these arguments can be found anywhere.)

"The Vatican holds the truth in their vaults and it should be shared with the public!! They shouldn't be allowed to keep it secret from the masses."

Pardon me while I laugh.

So, you are anti-Catholic. You believe the Church is evil, but you also believe that they have all the truth in their vaults? Why yes, yes they do... Do you not quite get what you're saying? If they have had scholars, scientists, theologians, etc throughout the ages studying these scrolls, and deciding what is important to share, and these truths are truths as you say, then you should be following the Church, because obviously they hold an authority and expertise that no one else holds. Hello? Besides that, these things are thousands of years old. Is it really a great idea to have every single thing out in a museum?

"Catholics have more books in their Bible! That's wrong!"

Hmmm, seeing as the Catholic Church compiled the Bible and Protestants took out the books, isn't really that you are missing books of the Bible, not that we have added some to your Bible? Why are these people on the Church's case about something they did? I don't get this one.

"If I ever thought someone was possessed, I'd call the Catholic Church, they seem to be good with that stuff."

Ya think?

"Catholics are told not to read the Bible!"

Hmmm, that must be why we have Bible readings every single day to reflect on and pray about. Right.

Ok, so there are plenty more, and I'm not good at apologetics, but come on.... Does anyone see the logical disconnect here?

Also, speaking of Anti-Catholicism, there is a movement starting called "Occupy the Vatican." There is a Facebook page that has over 3500 followers. This page is FULL of lies about the Church, hate speech, threats of violence, and other horrible things. It's really, really scary. Please, take action, go to the FB group and report them and read through some of the vile comments there and report those too. But at very least, report the page. It's easy to do.
