7 Quick Takes!

--- 1 ---

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a blessed holiday! We had a blast up in Payson at my grandparents' house.

--- 2 ---

My blog traffic has increased a bunch since Leila at Little Catholic Bubble linked me up! Too bad I'm in a rut and have nothing intelligent to add for the new readers. But, thanks, Leila!

--- 3 ---

We have internet at home again. It's much easier to blog on an actual computer. Too bad my laptop cord broke the day after I got home. Is someone trying to tell me something??

--- 4 ---
My home is a disorganized mess. I get overwhelmed easily and things go from bad to worse pretty quick. But when I go out of town with all the kids and my husband insists that he'll clean up a bit while we're gone but I come back to this:

My blood pressure rises. I couldn't even think straight the rest of the day. Had it been the first time, it wouldn't have been a big deal. But he feels the need to do this crap ALL the time. I'm beyond annoyed! I had to rip the 2 doors down so I could calm down, and he has yet to put my entertainment center back where it belongs... Sigh.
--- 5 ---

Has anyone had any experience with a chiropractor for a baby with reflux? I need to help my poor Charlotte, who is still miserable at almost 7 months old, and I'm thinking of trying a chiropractor.

--- 6 ---
This was a great video. Listen to the whole thing!!

Happy New Year! Be safe!

My Husband

Is shocking me the past few months. Here's a list of things he has done lately that I truly can't believe and am thanking God for!!!

1. He joined the RCIA. All of my readers (all 5 of you, haha) know this but it's the beginning. After years of prayer my husband joining the program was nothing short of a miracle.

2. He started listening to Christian radio! I know some people don't like it, but I love Air1, and I listen to it in the car because I realized that the stuff I was listening before kids had a lot of questionable content. I guess it rubbed off on Kyle! Now to get him to listen to Catholic talk radio ;)

3. He not only is listening to Air1, he's downloading songs that he likes! I asked him how some songs got on a super old iPhone we had lying around and he was like, "from the Internet." um, ok. Lol.

4. When I mentioned that although they hadn't talked about it in his classes yet, he should start thinking of a confirmation saint he replied with, "oh, I think I should have the same one as my grandpa. His was St. Christopher and it suits me too since I'm always driving around at my job."

Me: :-O

5. He found my crucifix that my sponsor had gotten me in Jerusalem and he is keeping it in his work badge!

Prayers work, people. I had put a scapular in his wallet years ago and have been praying non stop. He has also had the prayers of other faithful Catholics (and non-catholics too) and look what is happening! I am so grateful I didn't give up on him when things were horrible. He's truly changing, through the power of the holy spirit. And I'm so proud of him.

Internet-less and Loathing it

People, I am bored. I know I should be reading a book or something while I have no Internet, but I'd rather just be bored, I guess. Bored when my life is pretty crazy caring for 4 kids all the time, mostly alone, yes. I like to play games when I'm stuck nursing the baby. Wah? (I told Kyle these are what we call first world problems.)

I really felt like I was getting into a groove on this blog, too, but it is so SO hard to blog from my phone.

I'm getting eye strain and carpal tunnel syndrome and I think my iPhone might blow up soon.

Thank goodness I have an iPhone or I'd have to actually stay off the Internet and do something productive. :p

(I hope this picture works.)

Trying to stay out of political mode

I love politics. I know most people hate it, but I don't. I love the arguing, I love the unpredictability, and I love backing someone whole heartedly.

That said, once I go into political mode during elections, I do not come out. I go insane. I join debates, over research every candidate, go to rallies, etc.

But this election I'm trying as hard as I can to resist until closer to the primaries. I have my leanings, but I want to see 2-3 more people drop out before I start to back someone. (Bachmann, Paul, Perry, looking at you to drop out, kthx).

But, an interesting bit of info here; if the election were based on Facebook "likes," Romney would win. He has 1.2 million "likes" compared to Paul with 630,000, Bachmann with 459,000, Newt with 211,000, Perry with 175,00, and Santorum with 35,000.

But, a lot of the older generations don't use Facebook, and a lot of people who will vote don't exactly think of "liking" their favorite candidate. So, is it prophetic? Probably not. I just found it interesting.

By the way, I "like" Santorum and Newt. But I'm still whining that Palin isn't running. There I admit it. :p

Amazed

I am amazed at how many people don't know how hormonal birth control works.

Are people naive on purpose so that they can just keep on doing what they want and feign ignorance, or do they truly not know? Or do they know and not care?

I'm not sure why anyone would take a medication without reading up on it first, but they do.

Facts from WebMD:

Birth control hormones prevent pregnancy in three ways. They stop the ovaries from releasing an egg each month (ovulation). They also thicken the mucus in the cervix. This makes it hard for sperm to travel into the uterus. And birth control hormones change the lining of the uterus, which makes it harder for a fertilized egg to attach to it.

Catch that last part?

And what about iuds? Now, it's beyond me why anyone would think having a foreign object inside of themselves is a good idea at all, but again, they do.

How iuds work from WebMD:

Some IUDs contain copper, which is slowly released into the uterine cavity. The copper stops the sperm from making it through the vagina and uterus to reach the egg, thus preventing fertilization.
Some IUDs, such as Mirena, release the hormone progestin, which causes the cervical mucus to become thicker so the sperm cannot reach the egg. The hormone also changes the lining of the uterus, so implantation of a fertilized egg cannot occur.

The side effects of any of these should be scary enough.

I love this post by BadCatholic:

I also recently had a conversation in which no one even bothered to understand what I was saying and instead decided I was just being rude. I was trying to show people what the contraceptive mentality has done to society and that people don't get it and that things won't change until they do.

I offered these links to support my case:

Also, I know this is getting lengthy, but the vile and hateful things that are being said now about the Duggars who just found out their 19 week baby is dead and she now has to carry him or her until the miscarriage happens naturally, disgust me. (but don't shock me one bit.) My heart breaks for that wonderful family.

But I guess another dead baby is just another reason to rejoice for this sick society.
